i am against the death penalty because - I think capital punishment should be more torture - killing them for killing someone eles is pretty much the same thing so you're no better -they get free food - free bed and certain prisoners get special treatment and are kept away from others because the prison wants them to stay alive - no prisoner should get tv privledges - i think that we should changeing our prisons to be more like russian prisons, they have cell checks every 15 minutes and they are very hard on punishment - tortue them instead - torture is better - torture is more of a punishment.

I disagree, I think that sister Helen was just doing her job. She did try to comfort and help out the victems families, she didn't just ignore them. Even though the families didn't want her to "comfort" or help them in any way at first she did still pay both families a visit. she helped the boys dad before and after Mathew was killed. Sister Helen was just doing her job, she did get Mathew to confess giving both families a little bit of closer and he did get closer to his family, and he did find love. Mathew Poncelet was indeed a murderer but he was not and still is not a monster, he is a humna being and he does feel badly about he crime. Sister Helen did a fantastic job for her first time through, the girls family was harsh but she still got through. Sister Helen did a great thing for Mathew and the two victems families.

Yes I do think that Mathew got what he deserved, because he did infact commit the crime he was charged for even though he tried so hard to blame everyone else and change his case. Mathew didn't want to die so he sat around blaming others and trying to change the case.

Folsom was sentenced on felony robbery and criminal confinement charges for pistol whipping and robbing an acquaintance, Joseph Knaack, on March 20. He also was sentenced for burglarizing the home of Charles Riggle in the Gas Lite mobile home park on Oct. 30, 2008. Folsom has since told police he also was involved in numerous vehicle thefts and other burglaries that resulted in six or seven weapons that have never been recovered, Polarek said. His "reign of terror" began at the age of 9 when he stole poisonous chemicals in a plot to contaminate Hebron's water supply, she said. http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/porter/reign-of-terror-comes-to-an-end/article_fbe1716c-3881-5f9d-b387-69a11060cb18.html from reading this i do understand why he was convicted, but i think that he should have been put in the therapeutic community program, beacause he had many problems with drugs, as he did claim to strat using at the age of 6 or 7. i think that Miles should have been but in the tharaputic pogram and given help, it was obviouse he did feel sorry for the things he had done, and the program would help get him clean. I think you could work a deal with him, put him in jail for half the sentance then send him to the thareputic facility for the rest that way he can have hard time and be re-habilitaded.

Paul Gingerich was planning to run away with two of his friends, but colt said his stepdad would never allow it so he needed help killing him, Colt and Paul went in through a window Colt handed Paul a gun and they were going to wait in the living room till Colt's stepdad entered, the two were a little hesitant but when Colts stepdad entered the room Colt shot then Paul turned and closed his eyes and shot. they were both tried as adults, Paula was sent to a juvinile prison until he reaches the age of 18 and Colt was put into an adult prison but in a youth wing, he will also be transfered when he turns 18. Paul did say he wished he had just gone home the day they talked about killing a man, Paul also said he is greatful for what he has, he thinks that he has matured a lot from being in juvie.

Andy Dufresne is a quiet man that keeps to himself. He always keeps his hands clean, and he did not commit the murder he was accused of, Red knew that. Andy asked Red for a rock hammer and a rock blanket. When he lived in the normal world he was a huge rock nut and he wanted to get back into that. Andy was a nice man. Andy had a bad run in with the sisters, he was abbused by them for about three years but he never stopped fighting them off. One night some gaurds found bogs beaten half to death, no one knows who did it but Red had an idea of who it was. Andy later asked for a large poster of Rita Haywroth. When he recived his poster from Red he sent a package to him, inside were to beautiful quartz rocks. Andy must have found them in the yard and polished them for days maybe even weeks, Redloved the gift. Andy Dufresne was a lot of things , but he was NOT a liar.

In "Rita Haywoth and the shawsank redemption" I learned that red killed his wife and her lover, he is now in shashank with two back to back life sentences. He's the man who can get anything and everything for a price, and as long as it's not a weapon. If you want red's services you forget his name and buisness as soon as you recive your package. Red knows people, and he knows who and ho much it is to get a hit man. Red knows a liar but Andy dufresne was not one. and thats what I learned from the begining of the book

I think that in the story "The Lottery" people join in on the event because it's a tradition. They grew up with the anual lottery and that is what they know, they think that it's normal and ok to do. Every one joins in because they don't want to question or change tradition. I think that this tradition was made to keep the poppulation at a steady amount, or maybe to set an example, that karma is real. Tessie was late to the lottery draw and she just happened to be the chosen lottery winner, it was almost like karma for forgetting about tradition. Don't disrespect tradition, no matter what.
